Shrek the musical - Review
Feb 12, 2026
"The evil, psychologically maimed Lord Farquaad, (Mr. Ryan Perry Marks in an over-the-top, aisle-rolling performance) walks on his knees the entire show with tiny fake legs dangling before him — a very funny sight gag employing countless inventive variations. Men of Mr. Marks's personality, charm and talent are in short supply, making him a perfect fit for the diminutive Lord Farquaad.

His rich robust voice for "The Ballad of Farquaad" creates a house full of energy, but it's his animated performance in the hot-shot dancing number, "What's Up, Duloc," that makes Mr. Marks's portrayal of his obnoxious, egomaniac character all the more memorable, milking applause and attention with a mix of flouncing petulance and abusive power."

Shrek the musical - Review
Feb 7, 2026
"Ryan Perry Marks' Lord Farquaad is one of the most effective comic performances in the production. Marks commits fully to Farquaad's authority and entitlement, playing him as a character who never questions his own logic. That commitment is what makes the performance funny.
Farquaad's scenes are tightly paced, and Marks' physical choices, posture, gestures, and deliberate delivery, heighten the satire without pushing it into caricature. The humor lands because the character takes himself completely
seriously."
